AJAC Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility is to sponsor and administer the “Health Benefits Plan for Federal Retirees” in Panama ( Panama Canal Area Benefit Plan PCABP ).

AJAC hires a company to administer the services provided by the providers of the Health Plan and Benefits of the Canal Area (PCABP). Currently, AXA Assistance Florida, Inc. is the contracted company to be responsible for negotiating and managing the funds, services and health and pharmacy benefits that are provided under the PCABP to all insured and beneficiaries. All this must be done in compliance with the parameters, policies, regulations, and applicable codes as established under the terms and conditions of Contract CS-1066, United States Personnel Office.

The secondary responsibility is to manage an investment fund managed by an investment company and made up of contributions from employees of federal agencies that subscribed to a Collective Life Insurance. Currently the funds of this insurance are safeguarded by the International Insurance (IS) through an agreement with AJAC. As a result, AJAC has the obligation to coordinate and supervise the payment to the survivors of the federal employees who acquired said Collective Life Insurance and of validating the Prima Unica certificates .

ASSEMBLIES

AJAC carries out three (3) types of assemblies:

1. Ordinary General Assembly, once a year, according to the Statutes.

2. Extraordinary General Assembly at the moment in which the Board of Directors requires the approval of the membership.

3. General Information Assembly to communicate important matters to the membership.

Services

Information and Guidance

It provides information and guidance on the benefits and rights of retirees, beneficiaries, and pensioners.

OPM | Retirement Office

Serves as liaison with the Office of Personnel Management in Washington, DC for the handling of documents and claims information, requirements and updating of data.

Authorized Services

Extends the letters required for the authorization of the services of lenses, dental prosthesis, co-payment of eye surgery, and hospitalization.

Claims

Provides additional assistance in cases of claims that have not been satisfactorily addressed or completed. Serves as liaison with AXA Health Plan Administrator, if necessary, for extraordinary cases.
