Dear PCABP Member,

The Panama Canal Area Benefit Plan is undergoing necessary restructuring and adaptations in its network of medical providers to more effectively meet your needs.

Starting August 15, 2024, we will implement the first step in the restructuring:

• From that date, primary care physicians who are also subspecialists in any medical or surgical specialty will cease to be primary care physicians and will remain in the network solely as specialists in their field.
• Members will need to choose a new primary care physician, preferably a physician specializing in senior care (Geriatrics).

We understand that many will have difficulties accepting changes and that this restructuring involves changing dynamics used for many years. Your current primary care physicians must ensure the transfer of information to your new primary care physician.

These changes are necessary to adapt to the needs of PCABP members, a population that has undergone significant changes in recent years.
